Trustwave Does Black Hat USA 2016: Day One

While the expo floor at the 19th-annual Black Hat conference - which kicked off Wednesday in Las Vegas - has grown into a rich space over the years, the show is designed at its core for the security researcher. More than 100 presentations from white-hat hackers line the docket each day, with a handful that are sure to attract capacity crowds.

The show doesn't just serve as a grand stage through which major security vulnerabilities are revealed and discussed - it also presents an opportunity to recognize the critical work that researchers perform every day to protect technology from being broken first by cybercriminals.

At Trustwave, our SpiderLabs research team is tasked with doing exactly that - analyzing and investigating all of the various threats that face businesses. That is why we figured there is no better venue than Black Hat USA to show off their smarts.

Each of our SpiderLabs research managers at Trustwave is presenting at the Trustwave booth #1148 on an array of topics, from spam fraud to web application attacks to database vulnerabilities. Each of the presentations is succinct, and at an attention span-deprived show like Black Hat, it's the perfect amount of information to still be quite useful for audience members.

Included among that presenting pool is Anat Davidi, who on Wednesday delivered a talk on exploit kits. Anat joined us afterward to discuss crimeware such as ransomware and security research in general, as well as how she is feeling the vibe at her first-ever Black Hat experience.

We'll see you at Day Two!
