TrustKeeper Scan Engine Update for August 02, 2016

Summary

The latest update to the TrustKeeper scan engine that powers our Trustwave Vulnerability Management product (including both internal and external vulnerability scanning) is now available. Enjoy!

New Vulnerability Test Highlights

Some of the more interesting vulnerability tests we added recently are as follows:

Apache

  • Apache Tomcat vulnerable to Denial of Service attack via a long boundary string in FileUpload (CVE-2016-3092)

Bind

  • Bind vulnerable to Denial of Service via a large AXFR response or IXFR response or UPDATE message (CVE-2016-6170)

OpenSSH

  • OpenSSH allows for the transmission of the entire buffer to remote servers before 7.1p2 (CVE-2016-0777)
  • OpenSSH before 7.1p2 allows for Denial of Service via crafted network traffic (CVE-2016-1907)
  • OpenSSH through 6.9 does not correctly restrict the use of keyboard-interactive devices within a single connection (CVE-2015-5600)
  • OpenSSH through 7.2p2 allows potential privilege escalation by remote attackers (CVE-2015-8325)
  • OppenSSH allows Denial of Service with proxy forwarding options enabled (CVE-2016-0778)
  • X11 forwarding data allows multiple CRLF injection in OpenSSH before 7.2p2 (CVE-2016-3115)

OpenSSL

  • OpenSSL Denial of Service caused by incorrectly implemented pointer arithmetic for heap-buffer boundary checks (CVE-2016-2177)
  • OpenSSL local information disclosure: DSA private key can be retriewed via a timing side-channel attack (CVE-2016-2178)

Oracle

PostgreSQL

  • Weak authentication methods over unencrypted communication channel in PostgreSQL

SMTP

  • Plaintext authentication is allowed over unencrypted channel on SMTP

Wordpress

  • Cross-site scripting in WordPress before 4.5.3 (CVE-2016-5833)
  • WordPress before 4.5.3 allows abuse of password reset functionality (CVE-2016-5838)
  • Wordpress before 4.5.3 allows information leaks from revision history (CVE-2016-5835)
  • WordPress before 4.5.3 allows removal of category atributes (CVE-2016-5837)
  • Wordpress before 4.5.3 redirect restrictions can be bypassed (CVE-2016-5832)
  • The sanitize_file_name protections in Wordpress before 4.5.3 can be bypassed (CVE-2016-5839)
