5 Security Things to Know for the Week of June 29

Like it or not, Monday is upon us. Here are five items making news that can help you kick off your work week in style - or at least a little more informed.

New Flash exploit: Last week, we told you about the rise of Adobe Flash vulnerabilities. Right on cue, a just-patched Flash Flaw has been added to the notorious and popular Magnitude exploit kit - meaning the possibility of being hit with the threat just got significantly larger.

Ruby not so rosy: Speaking of vulnerabilities, Trustwave SpiderLabs has discovered a gaping hole in the software distribution tool RubyGems used by many start-ups, social media sites, payment gateway companies and others. Attackers can use the flaw - which is now fixed - to infect users with malware.

Android under fire: While mobile malware is clearly not the first choice for attackers, Android is - far and away - the preferred platform to target, according to a new study.

Attackers don't discriminate: It was a bad week for the government, health care and financial services sectors - all receiving bad news in regard to their cybersecurity postures.
